Moncler’s Green Army

Moncler Grenoble A/W 2013

Moncler Grenoble debuted its Autumn/Winter 2013 collection at Manhattan’s Gotham Hall recently. Jumpset was on hand to view the presentation and can emphatically declare that it was stunning. In a fashion that we’ve come to expect from the luxury sporting brand, an army of 370 models wearing the Moncler skiwear was assembled in a tiered theatre in the round. In this case, the audience was at the center, flipping the traditional relationship and lending a sinister touch. A mirror overhead reflected the green kaleidoscope below as a powerful selection of battle music from Daft Punk’s Tron, Star Wars and Aphex Twin pulsed throughout. Catch a video short of the show below.

Moncler FW2012 Takes to the Ice

Moncler FW2012_00

We can always count on Moncler Grenoble to give us an imaginative fashion show and FW2012 did not disappoint. As a follow up to its flashmob presentation in Grand Central Station last year, the Italian outerwear brand took to the ice in perfect form for New York Fashion Week. With a dusting of snow on the ground, Central Park’s Wollman Rink was the perfect setting to show off its cold-weather collection of ski jackets, leg warmers, sweaters, gloves and puffy vests. Professional athletes – 180 of them – were teamed up for three monochrome segments of blue, red and white/gray against a backdrop of city lights. Here are a few more images of the event and collection from last Sunday night.

Moncler + Rimowa Take to the Skies

More collaborations from Moncler, as the luxe outerwear brand takes to the skies with its new Rimowa “Go on Holiday” custom trolley. For Moncler, Rimowa reinterprets its “Classic Flight” cabin case to include a brushed “M” logo, padded handles, a special Moncler address tag and a set of soft accessories: shoe, laundry and utility bags, plus a small beauty case. In standard fashion, the luggage features traditional crossover packing straps, padded interior, hard aluminum exterior and two TSA-compatible combination locks to keep your intimates from going astray.

The German suitcase maker, known for its distinctive grooved design and celebrity following, has been pioneering luggage since 1898.  Approximately 200 individual components make up these hand-crafted pieces of indestructible German engineering. Moncler + Rimowa are a perfect match to feed your powder-seeking wanderlust.

Moncler Illustrated

For Moncler’s latest release, the Italian fashion house teamed up with three European artists to interpret ski-inspired pieces for the 2011/12 snow season.

Jordi Labanda for MonclerJordi Labanda conjures up 60s lounge style with playful illustrations (complete with oxygen masks) reminiscent of the pioneering 1954 Karakorum climbing expeditions, an important piece of Moncler’s history.

Alexandra Compain-Tissier for MonclerParis-based illustrator Alexandra Compain-Tissler uses traditional pencil technique for a black and white drawing that evokes vintage mountain photography, including the iconic rescue St. Bernard.

Erin Petson for MonclerErin Petson creates a delicate and ethereal mountain scene with watercolor-like techniques. Her interpretation for Moncler plays on her fluid style of fashion croquis.

The limited-edition quilted women’s jackets are available at Moncler boutiques November 2011. $1395

Moncler V by Hiroki Nakamura

Moncler V

This season’s Moncler V collection was created by Japanese designer Hiroki Nakamura, director of the Tokyo-based shoe and clothing line, Visvim. With eight years experience at Burton Snowboards, this project was a great fit for Nakamura who thrives on collaboration.

Moncler V

Twenty historic pieces from the 50s and 60s were selected from the Moncler archives for reinvention. The pieces, including shoes and accessories were transformed by Nakamura, adding depth to the original concept. Orange, red, and turquoise illuminate the inventiveness of the pieces that draw inspiration from the clothing of mountain pioneers, through an eclectic mix of patchwork-quilted jackets, hats, kaftans, and jumpers.
